The *real* world
I was looking at the BBC news website today, and was shocked to see a headline along the lines of “Bhutto killed by bomb”.
“Wow,” I thought, “and just before Christmas she managed to avoid being killed by that bomb.”
On going to the item page, I was completely shocked to find out that not only was she dead, but it had happened some time ago. How the hell did I miss that piece of news?
Then noticed the date it happened. 27th December. I was in America. Where “world” news means telling you what the weather is like in Toronto, and how great they are doing in the Iraqi war.
And of course, by the time I got back home, it had dropped off the news sites.
But seriously, something that big you’d have thought would have been reported. and it makes me wonder what else I have missed out on.
