I can’t believe how expensive travel insurance has gone. Talk about knee jerk reaction!
I got 3 quotes yesterday - Halifax, my previous insurers, Direct Line, my car insurers, and Nationwide, my bank. The cheapest was £69, the most expensive £72. That’s about what people normally pay for a couple.
I did manage to find cheaper with The AA, at £58 (and there were cheaper policies on offer, but from companies I have never heard of).
Also finally managed to get my passport back. Turns out the the Post Office “Check and Send” service is, at least in my case, “Check and Don’t Send the Birth Certificate Even Though They Need to See it”. So last Friday involved a mad dash to the passport office (lucky I live so close really), and it turned up on Tuesday.
And what did they do to the passport photo? I look like Lady Cassandra off Doctor Who - I am pale to begin with I know, but they bleached all the colour out, and all you can see are my eyes, eyebrows, nostrils and lips. Very weird.
So, pretty much all set to go. Haven’t figured out what to wear. I know I usually shop when I am there, but I am not sure whether I will have much time before the wedding, so I am taking a couple of tops that might be suitable. I am wearing a new pair of shoes as I type, in the vain hope they won’t rub me come the day.
